Life In Singapore

Friday, August 31, 2001

The moving company sent three of its best guys this past Monday to pack up our belongings for Singapore. It was a difficult decision deciding what 880 pounds to bring! Several people have asked us..."What do you bring?" The answer: mostly the "comforts" of home...toys, books, computer, 3 of our favorite blankets, a few boxes of a most have - Kraft mac and cheese, some favorite Longaberger baskets, clothes, 3 bottles of wine and 1 bottle of port, and a mini American flag so we always remember our home. (The American flag is actually an ornament given from our dear friend Nancy Schwartz and will be displayed prominently. The wine will be taxed upon entry but it will still be less expensive then buying it over there). Oh yes - pictures too - of family and friends. I actually brought my scrapbooks and the girls' albums to work on in all my "free" time. David said that they need to be in different shape (namely completed) before the next move! Luckily, our apartment in Singapore is fully furnished so we did not have to pack any furniture, dishes, or linens.

This has been an amazing week - Katie spent a special few days with her Mama Gin and Papa Dick in San Mateo, the movers came, I celebrated my 34th b-day yesterday, Amanda has started walking (yee-haw!), and tomorrow is Katie's last day at Alphabet Soup pre-school. David is cleaning out his work office and the packing, organizing, and paperwork at home continues. We received the girls' passports in the mail too. Gosh, I think the move is really happening this time! - Anne Wilhoit

David got back from a trip to Singapore and Taiwan. We selected our apartment and were lucky enough to get a three bedroom. Check out the pictures from the link on the main page. Life is hectic with the pre-move packing an organizing but we are getting by. The movers come on Monday (2 days) to pick up the items for Singapore. The movers will come back on the 11th to pick up the items for Storage (Germany and long-term).
